Teaching People "Money Smarts"
While our resources are limited, so are the resources of the hard working people we serve, many of who have lost their jobs and are facing some of the hardest times in their lives.
Our Financial Literacy program works with the community to ensure they make better and more informed financial choices—choices that lead to home ownership. In the past, this program has primarily been funded by the Charleston Trident Association of Realtors', Raise the Roof Program - Housing Opportunities Fund. These and other contributions make it possible to do what we do.
The program consists of ten training sessions for the people we serve, designed to
- Enable consumers to make better-informed choices in the financial marketplace
- Provide working knowledge of financial products and financial planning
- Enable individuals to correct and learn from previous financial mistakes
- Prepare individuals for what is often the largest single investment in a lifetime.
