Lincolnville Garden Apartments

Built in 1998, Lincolnville Garden Apartments is meeting the need to shorten the gap for senior housing. Lincolnville Garden Apartments located at 501 Slidel Street in a tranquil community in the Town of Lincolnville, consist of 39 one-bedroom apartments. Lincolnville Garden Apartments offer each resident a 750 square foot, single dwelling, patio home with a screened-in back porch. The units are designated for seniors 62 and older.

Funding sources for the project include First Federal of Charleston-Mortgage; First Federal of Charleston Direct Subsidy Affordable Housing Program; CDBG-Town of Lincolnville; Charleston Housing Finance Agency-Mortgage; South Carolina Housing Finance and Development Authority Housing Trust Fund; HOME (Charleston County); General Partner Contribution and Syndication Equity (Tax Credits).

Mayflower Court

The Mayflower Court Project involved moving 14 World War II-era cottages from a church property to a 1.6 acre tract of land donated by Charleston County Housing and Redevelopment Authority. The project provides elderly people with affordable housing in a park-like environment.

Cottages were completely rehabilitated through the combined efforts of the Authority, The City of Charleston, Charleston County, Enston Homes Foundation, S.C. State Housing Finance & Development Authority, First Federal of Charleston, First Sterling Financial, Inc., Federal Home Bank of Atlanta, and the Lowcountry Housing and Economic Development Foundation, Inc. The project provides elderly people with affordable housing in a park-like environment.

Award of Excellence

The Mayflower Court project received the National Association of Housing Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Award of Excellence. The award recognizes superior assisted housing and community development programs that help low and moderate-income people.
